Blogging hiatus 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anybody else still working on getting back into a normal swing? Whew!

It's been a crazy year and I've had all I can do to keep my personal and professional lives organized and flowing smoothly, let alone managing my digital life. Nothing life altering, just life in general keeping me busy to the extremes. My youngest son is marching with his high school band in the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, CA on Jan 1st! We are quite excited as my husband and I will also be making the trip with the band. It's been a whirlwind of planning and preparing but will so worth it in the end!

My hope moving forward is to get the blog back up and running on a consistent basis as I've missed the connections and collaborations from near and far that have come from this space!!!

So here's to my first post moving forward....

This morning I did my monthly Breakfast Bytes meeting with my staff. (This is a monthly meeting where we discuss technology and tech integration) December is always such a crazy time of year so I theme the meeting around tips and tricks in hopes that everyone will walk away with one or two small tidbits.

Did you know that you can now insert stickers and gifs
into your Google Slidedeck directly from the Insert Image menu?

Or that there is now a pen tool that you can use when in slidedeck mode?

To view these tips and others, slide on over to the Breakfast Bytes page of the blog and click on this month's image on the Padlet board!

If you pick up a new tip or have a great tip to share, leave a comment below to let us know!

Merry Christmas everyone!! Enjoy your time away with family and friends!

Global Collaboration

Each month I put together a mini PD session called, Breakfast Bytes, which is incorporated into one of our weekly staff meetings. I've always been passionate about global collaboration and connecting my classroom to opportunities that we otherwise may not have had without the aid of technology and to give my students opportunities to learn from others. As such, this month's Breakfast Bytes focuses on 5 different global collaboration opportunities that will hopefully appeal to those new to going beyond the walls of their classroom to opportunities for those that are already comfortable making global connections.

Looking for a few ideas for your own classroom? Feel free to take a peek.

Tips n' Tidbits

If you can tell me where this year has gone, I'd love to know!  It has been nothing short of whirlwind of a year, full of excitement, new learning, new friends, and a lot of reflection on how to move forward.
This month's Breakfast Bytes has end of the year information for teachers in my district, but also covers a couple of quick tips such as: incognito mode, pinning and muting tabs, and how to delete multiple pictures with the swipe of your finger on iOs devices.
Hopefully you will be able to walk away with a new tidbit of information!

Breakfast Bytes

Part of my new position is to offer what we call Breakfast Bytes each and every month to the staff in my building. Each month I try to share an app and how it can best be utilized within the curriculum and sometimes I share tips and tidbits based on what I am seeing would be beneficial. You can find all of the Breakfast Bytes I've done this year on the Breakfast Bytes tab above.

Here is this month's slidedeck. The initial pages are related to shared calendars in Google but the iPad tip at the end shows how to use Markup on your photos if you are running iOs10. Super cool feature!
